FALCONER – Jamestown Container Companies has acquired Syracuse Corrugated Box Corp. as the Falconer-based company continues expanding its footprint across New York state.

Founded in 1956, Jamestown Container Companies is a family-owned packaging manufacturer specializing in custom corrugated packaging, retail packaging, displays, and packaging supplies. The acquisition of Syracuse Corrugated Box Corp. strengthens Jamestown Container’s ability to serve customers throughout Central New York while continuing to provide responsive service, high-quality products, and innovative packaging solutions.

“This acquisition represents an exciting step forward for our company,” said Joseph R. Palmeri, Chief Operating Officer. “Syracuse Corrugated Box Corp. has a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer relationships over many years. We are proud to welcome their customers into the Jamestown Container family.”

Jamestown Container Companies has been busy over the past few years. In May 2025, OrCon Industries, a custom packaging and material handling company, acquired the Viva Foam division of Jamestown Container Companies. The acquisition includes the majority of assets and equipment located in Lyons, N.Y. Viva Foam was acquired by Jamestown Container back in 2016 when the Falconer company acquired H.P. Neun Co. Inc.’s packaging business in Lyons.

In March 2024, Jamestown Container acquired Midwest Box Company’s packaging business in Cleveland, Ohio. As part of the agreement, Jamestown Container planned to operate the Midwest Box plant, and retain the General Manager, account managers, and customer service professionals responsible for these accounts, as well as several of the key operations and distribution personnel.

Headquartered in Falconer, Jamestown Container Companies operates seven manufacturing facilities across New York and Ohio, employing over 500 people. The company is also a co-owner in Greenpac LLC and managing partner in Niagara Sheets LLC-two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in the Buffalo area. Learn more at www.jamestowncontainer.com.

Jamestown Container Companies officials said they plan to build upon Syracuse Corrugated Box Corp.’s legacy while investing in continued growth, operational efficiency and expanded capabilities for customers. Customers of Syracuse Corrugated Box Corp. will continue working with familiar contacts through the transition.

“Syracuse Box was started in 1969 by my dad, Richard Wilde and his business partner, Wyman Caruthers. The business was the foundation of our family for many years,” said John Wilde, former part-owner of Syracuse Box. “When we decided to sell, we liked that Jamestown Container was a family business and shared the same principles of respect for employees and customers. It was a natural fit.”

The acquisition also aligns with Jamestown Container’s long-term strategy of strategic growth throughout the region while maintaining the values of a family-owned independent manufacturer.

“Our companies share many of the same core values — dedication to customers, commitment to employees, and pride in delivering quality work,” said Bruce Janowsky, Jamestown Container Companies chief executive officer. “We believe this partnership creates exciting opportunities for the customers we serve.”
