Drug, harassment charges filed after downtown fracas

Five individuals are facing charges after a fight in downtown Jamestown last week.

Around midnight Wednesday, Jamestown Police Department officers responded to the area of the Wine Cellar for multiple subjects fighting. Upon arrival, officers attempted to disburse the crowd but located Marc Staples actively trying to continue the fight. Officers attempted to remove Staples from the situation at which time he became combative with officers.

Staples was quickly taken into custody.

While attempting to detain Rashid Jabbar, he also became uncooperative with officers and was taken into custody. Dimari Fields then became assaultive toward subjects who were still on scene. While officers began to take Fields into custody, he resisted but after a brief struggle was taken into custody.

While getting these subjects into custody Navaeh Graves began fighting with another subject on scene. Officers attempted to take Graves into custody at which point she pulled away from officers. Graves was quickly taken into custody as well.

Further investigation discovered Jade Williams had also struck another subject that was on scene. Williams was taken into custody without incident.

Jabbar, 41, was later found to be in possession of a large quantity of cocaine. He was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and second-degree harassment. Fields, 19, was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. Staples, 22, was charged with

second-degree obstructing governmental administration. Graves, 18, was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration and second-degree harassment. Williams, 18, was charged with second-degree harassment. All were transported to the city jail and held pending arraignment.
