Jamestown airshow proposed in 2027
The following photo is from Schultz Airshows’ Facebook page. Chautauqua County is looking to hire Schultz to have an airshow at its Jamestown airport sometime next year.
Details are limited, but Chautauqua County is eyeing an airshow in the south county next year.
Schultz Airshows, LLC has submitted a proposal to perform Air Boss services for the 2027 Chautauqua County airshow at the Jamestown airport.
It is proposed that the county would pay Schultz Airshows, LLC up to $18,000 for “services rendered” for the airshow.
Following a recommendation by the county Airport Commission, the county legislature has scheduled a public hearing to take place during its May meeting.
During the recent county legislature Public Facilities Committee meeting, Airport Director John Machemer said Schultz has a lot of experience in putting on airshows.
He did say that there would be a fee to attend the airshow. Machemer did not have further details on how much the fee would be or how it would be collected, but he did say the money would be used to off-set the cost that the county is spending.
Even though the proposal calls for the county to spend $18,000, Machemer said $15,000 of that is coming from the county’s occupancy tax, which is generated from individuals who stay at hotels, motels, and short-term rentals in the county.
According to Schultz Airshows’ website, they have been providing airshows for more than 30 years. “Since 1994, our team of Airshow Professionals has provided locations worldwide with airshow services, including two FAA Recognized Airbosses – (Multi-Venue), numerous Ground Operations Specialists, Announcers, Jet Team Project Managers, Military & civilian aircraft acquisition services, Event budget analysis, Website development and maintenance, FAA/DOD/TFR paperwork coordination, Airspace Management, Computerized ramp layouts, Flyby Coordination, Event Ticketing, VIP Management, Livestreaming Services, and a whole host of other services that no one else in the business can provide,” the company states.
The public hearing is officially scheduled for May 27 at 6:35 p.m. in the legislative chambers of the Gerace Office Building.
