Owner Eric Hagglund likes to go above and beyond for his customers, and besides the welcoming atmosphere, patrons can expect a smile, and a safe place to bring their entire families. Hagglund also
prides himself and his staff for having affordable, and amazing, fresh food.
“We have a wonderful staff – people that are courteous, kind, and caring,” Hagglund said. “We really want to know when people are new coming in here or that they’ve never tried us before, or haven’t tried us in quite some time – we really want to go above and beyond and make that experience for them that much better.”
Hagglund is no stranger to the food service culture as he began his career with Cisco Foods.

Recently Hagglund said the restaurant, located at 104 E. Second St., Jamestown, had been renovated by adding an upstairs dining room and bar, and an updated menu.
“So on the second floor we do not charge for it. As long as they’re eating food and drinking, that’s free, free of charge,” Hagglund said.
Hagglund added that patrons have their area, their own bartender, and their own “everything.” Patrons have to reserve the room in advance, Hagglaund noted.
“We do a lot of holiday parties,” Hagglund said.
The restaurant owner said that he is constantly updating selections of beer, wine, and spirits. Six selections of draft beer are on tap, and Hagglund said, he rotates beers, so when one draft is finished, a different draft replaces the previous one.

He said in order to adapt, changes had to be made.
“After COVID hit, that is what really hurt us,” Hagglund added.
When things returned to normal, Hagglund said he set up an outdoor parklet that patrons can use during the warmer months. When Chef Jared Higbee began, Hagglund said they began smoking all of the restaurant’s meats.
“And this summer, we’re going to be starting to do monthly barbecues outside, probably on Fridays, for people who are looking for lunches,” Hagglund said.
He added the menu may include chicken dinners, and ribs.

Higbee said he is in the process of updating the menu, and one thing he is really proud of is the specials board.
“It changes every two weeks,” Higbee said.
Here is an example. On the regular menu, there is an item called The Sloppy Mary, consisting of an 8-ounce smash burger topped with provolone and cheddar cheeses, crispy bacon, macaroni and cheese, and ranch dressing drizzle. It is served on a toasted pretzel bun.
On the special board, there is The Sloppy Mary’s BIG Sister, consisting of an 8-ounce smash burger topped with a deep-fried mozzarella cheese, and Mac and cheese. It is also served on a toasted pretzel bun.
He said a worker came up with the Sloppy Mary.
“And then a spin off of that, we did The Sloppy Mary’s Big Sister. So we just, we tweaked it just a little bit. But again, it was something that we sold a lot here, so it was on a special board a lot,” Hagglund said.
The specials board is a team effort. And both Hagglund and Higbee said they welcome suggestions from patrons. In May, Hagglund noted, he is planning on adding a suggestion box.
“So when the person puts in the suggestion, and if it’s the one that’s picked for a special, they are awarded a free meal,” Hagglund said.
So who knows? Maybe your suggestion may end up on the board, and you may end up getting a free meal. There are anywhere from 6 to 10 items on the specials board at any given time.
And Higbee has implemented new cleaning routines for food handlers in the kitchen.
“We put all of our cooks through ServSafe training,” Higbee noted.
According to servsafe.com, the food handler certificate program learning outcomes include basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross contamination and allergens, time and temperature control, and cleaning and sanitation.
And Higbee loves being in the kitchen.
“The busier the better,” Higbee said.
Hagglund said he could not make the establishment work without the help of Mary, the manager; Higbee; cooks – Andrew, Gwen, Sky, Haven, and Kat; bartenders – Cameron and Rachel, and Danielle, a server.
Hagglund also has expanded operations as he has another restaurant, Haggy’s Hatchet House, 84 W. Main, Frewsburg.
