Tyler C. Anderson, 35, was charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and third-degree criminal tampering.
At approximately 12:38 a.m., officers observed a vehicle leaving a downtown business at a high rate of speed after officers had been dispatched for a report of a disorderly person. Officers caught up to the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the operator failed to comply. A vehicle pursuit subsequently ensued throughout the city.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a posted stop sign and nearly struck another vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on Forest Avenue near the border with Busti where officers made contact with the driver, who was Anderson. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. While at the City Jail, it was determined that Anderson had been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition. Additionally, while confined in his cell, Anderson intentionally flooded the holding cell by tampering with the plumbing.
He was being held pending arraignment.
