When children are diagnosed with cancer it can be a scary time for them, and Jamestown native, Kim Survil, founder of the trademarked brand Reminder Collection, is looking to help change the mindset of such children and let them know they are not alone.
Survil founded Reminder Collection after noticing a disconnect in how people see themselves versus who they truly are.
“We’re our own harshest critics, and in the scariest seasons of life, that inner voice can feel even harder,” Survil said. “Reminder Collection exists to change that narrative. The brand carries simple and intentional reminder apparel that helps people reconnect with their strength, their courage, and their worth.”
Reminder Collection also exists in a supportive online community, Survil said, primarily through Facebook, where they can be found at Reminder Collection. Survil added that the online community works through a word of the week from the collection.
“Sometimes one reminder is all it takes to shift how someone feels about themselves.,” Survil said. “I want to change the world and am starting with the mindset of children fighting cancer and the families alongside them in Western New York.”

Being born and raised in Jamestown and as a graduate of Southwestern Central School, Survil said she grew up learning that community can come together for those who need it. Specifically, for this fundraiser she said mindset matters for children facing something as overwhelming as cancer.
“It affects how they feel, how they cope, and how they move through each day,” Survil said. “I wanted Reminder Collection and community businesses to be part of reminding these kids how brave they are, even when they’re scared, and reminding families that hope can exist right alongside fear. Supporting the children on the Patricia Allen Wing at Oishei Children’s Hospital means: ‘Together, we fight with them.'”
This fundraiser is done directly through sponsorships, and every contribution is acknowledged with intention and gratitude, Survil said. Sponsors are recognized through tote sponsorships that will display their logo or name and each tote will include a t-shirt that says “Fighter” and a velvet blanket with the word “Brave” to be given to each child in the Patricia Allen Wing of Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, to give them messages of encouragement and strength.

Social media thank-you’s are made through Reminder Collection’s Meta Verified Facebook Business Page to celebrate the generosity behind this fundraiser, with the goal being to purchase 70 of these packages for the children of the Patricia Allen Wing. Donations can be made using a Square Secure Checkout link from the website, remindercollection.com/oishei-fundraiser or checks mailed to Reminder Collection, 132 North Second Street, Allegany, New York 14706. Any business donating over $250 will need to provide their logo for the tote sponsorship design, sent to liveit@remindercollection.com.
“Whether someone gives a larger amount or a smaller one, every donation is valued and recognized because every act of kindness matters,” Survil said. “This is about more than fundraising, it’s about impact. It’s about giving children something they can hold onto emotionally during their hardest moments. A reminder that says ‘you are brave, you are a fighter, or you are not alone,’ can completely change how someone walks through a hospital room or a difficult day. This fundraiser gives people and businesses a way to be a part of that mindset shift.”
The fundraiser runs until March 31, and all donations made during that time period go towards supporting children fighting cancer on the Patricia Allen Wing at Oishei. Survil emphasized that transparency and care are important to her, and that every dollar goes towards creating meaningful support and encouragement for these kids and their families. Any remaining funds after the purchase of totes, shirts and blankets, will be donated directly to the Patricia Allen Fund with all sponsors listed.
“Reminder Collection doesn’t make any income from this fundraiser,” Survil said. “I want people to know that this comes from the heart. This fundraiser isn’t about fixing pain, it’s about walking through it with intention, hope, and compassion. Even the smallest donation, share, or message of support helps remind a child and their family that they are seen, supported, and incredibly brave. That reminder alone can change everything.”
