On Friday, July 3, the group will visit the National Archives building, which houses the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Following this, they will tour the Pentagon Memorial in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the United States Air Force Memorial. The day will culminate with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where the choral group will participate in a special Jamestown Harmony Express Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Additionally, the group is scheduled to perform an indoor concert for distinguished military veterans that evening.
On Saturday, July 4, the Jamestown Harmony Express will perform the National Anthem to kick off the official National Independence Day Parade of the United States. The parade will commence on historic Constitution Avenue, commemorating the official birth date of our nation.
On Sunday, July 5, the group will embark on a trip to the historic Fort McHenry. This iconic site is where Francis Scott Key penned the National Anthem of the United States during the War of 1812. The choral group will perform at this significant landmark to continue honoring the nation’s birthday. Later that evening, they will give another performance at the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, which houses several key historical Civil War artifacts directly connected to President Abraham Lincoln, who regularly attended services there while in office.
“This trip, like all others, costs money,” said Jarrell. “We are currently raising funds for the trip and welcome any donations. Feel free to reach out to learn about our ongoing fundraisers.”
