WACS Dealing With ‘Misconduct’ Allegations
WESTFIELD — It appears that a potential concern with a Westfield Academy & Central School staff member is becoming a hot-button issue in the district.
At its meeting Monday, the Board of Education was to enter into an executive session to discuss matters relating to employment histories “of a particular person or persons” before the regular meeting of the board, according to a Legal Notice posted on Nov. 5.
This week, on social media, the district put out this statement: “Westfield Academy and Central School District is aware of recent claims regarding a current staff member.
“The safety, well-being, and trust of our students and alumni remain our highest priority. We take any allegation of misconduct seriously and are committed to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards among all staff members.
“We understand that this situation may be distressing for members of our community. We encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward, so that all concerns can be properly investigated and reviewed. Anyone with information can contact the District Office or Superintendent at 716-326-2151.
“Westfield remains committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone in our community. We will continue to communicate as appropriate as the situation develops, while respecting the privacy and due process of all involved.”
Recent meetings of the Westfield school board, as covered by The Westfield Republican from October, note a more enthusiastic tone. Officials highlighted girls’ volleyball team successes, other academic highlights and a discussion on privileges for senior students.
No other information on the topic was discussed.
