Dr. William Schuver is helping victims of domestic violence.

Schuver, a doctor of chiropractic, will be holding a patient appreciation day on Nov. 26 at his office located at 201 Lakeview Ave., Jamestown where new and existing patients are welcome to receive treatment for a $20 donation to the Salvation Army Anew Domestic Violence Center for victims of domestic violence.

“When considering a worthwhile charity to help, I decided on victims of abuse – especially the children. This vulnerable group doesn’t ask to be in this situation. They really need support. The Anew Center really does a great job with this,” Schuver said.

When completed, the center will serve individuals and families who have experienced homelessness, and domestic violence.

According to an April 26 Post-Journal article, funding for the Anew Center was compiled from various agencies, granting foundations, and other key stakeholders. The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) provided $4.4 million towards the $5.7 million project, which will create a 7-unit, 19-bed temporary housing shelter. The new shelter will also offer counseling services, legal assistance, and educational programs to support survivors of domestic violence.

“This shelter is a matter of life and death,” said New York State Assemblyman Andrew Molitor. “Domestic abusers are cowards.”

Molitor said victims of domestic violence may feel alone, but they should not because they have an army behind them – like the Salvation Army.

Kristina Maguire of the Anew Center said the new building is projected to be completed by summer 2026.

With the Anew Center endeavor, Schuver said he would like to help introduce people to the benefits of chiropractic care and thank current patients.

“Dr. Schuver recently reached out to us about a fundraiser he has done for our program in the past and that he would like to do again, and we were happy for him to reach back out,” Maguire said.

Schuver’s office was happy to help assist the Anew Center staff members and the important work they do.

Schuver has been a chiropractor in Jamestown for 38 years. To learn more about a donation to the Anew Center, call 716-488-1093.
