JPD Investigating Shooting Incident
The Jamestown Police Department is actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, Sept 27 at about 3:30 a.m. Police said the shooting took place at a Curtis Street residence which was believed to be a house party. During the shooting, one person was grazed by a bullet who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators encourage anyone who was at the party, or has information, to send us a Facebook message or call the TIPS line at (716) 483-8477.
“We are aware of the individuals involved in this incident, and how the dispute originated at The Wine Cellar. We will continue to dedicate available resources to target those individuals involved in violent, reckless acts,” according to a statement on JPD’s Facebook page.
Through August, Jamestown has had six shootings through the first six months of 2025, one fewer than the same time in 2025. Unlike last year, when the city was seeing increases in shootings compared to the other Tier 2 agencies involved in the Gun Involve Violence Elimination program, the city is one of seven to see a decrease through eight months of 2025. Binghamton, Auburn, Cheektowaga and Kingston have all seen increases.
Jamestown has also seen two fewer shooting victims through August 2025 with 7, compared to 9 through eight months of 2024. There have been no firearm-related deaths in 2025 compared with 3 through eight months of 2024.
