The Leafy Lounge is growing like a weed, with a second location coming in Lakewood in addition to Tammy Darling’s original location in Jamestown.

The Leafy Lounge opened on July 10 on Foote Avenue. From the start, the business saw a large numbers of customers coming into the store. This led to Darling to begin the process of opening a second location.

Darling noted that progress is currently being made toward completing renovations at 305 E. Fairmount Ave. Darling noted that flooring, painting, and plumbing are all complete and stocking is the only remaining task. Darling is hoping to be able to open the second location by mid-November.

Darling noted that the location was once her office, where she would frequently find herself wanting to bring in something involving a passion. Darling stated that she and her daughter would frequently travel to coffee shops across numerous states. During this time Darling noticed that the city did not have any houseplant stores that serve coffee. This prompted Darling to research various recipes and begin gathering the necessary materials to open the initial location. This location saw a large amount of success upon opening, according to Darling. Darling said that due to this success discussion of a second location began less than 10 weeks into operations.

Darling also noted her love of plants and her long-term experience surrounding them as inspiring the business. Darling stated that she has always had plants in her home and enjoyed performing landscaping around the house. This love began from a young age with Darling having noted that her mother had many plants that she grew up around.

“I don’t know, I just think that they bring a comfortable feel to your house, I’ve just always liked them. I have always loved to do landscaping and yardwork around my home” said Darling.

The new location will be bringing more to the menu in addition to the coffees and drinks offered currently. Darling noted the large number of younger customers, something she did not expect. As a result Darling noted that she is looking to offer more options to appeal to this customer base. Darling mentioned the inclusion of hot coffees and hot chocolates, and possibly some food options such as bagel sandwiches or soups.

This has caused an incredible amount of shock, and gratitude, according to Darling. Darling stated that she never expected such a huge amount of customer and community support and that she is still working to process the reception to the business.

“I am really shocked. I really haven’t taken all of this in. Like I said, I thought I was just going to be a little plant store,” said Darling.

Starting at $3.50/week.
