Police Seize Meth, Handgun From Bicyclist
Jamestown police seized 56.6 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun early Tuesday afternoon after a busy Third Platoon shift that saw 11 people arrested in a variety of incidents.
At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Bracken D. Warren, 26, of Jamestown was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and failure to stop at a stop sign after officers stopped a bicyclist who had allegedly committed a moving violation.
After stopping the bicycle, officers found that Warren was allegedly in possession of 56.6 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, a large quantity of drug packaging material and a digital scale. Warren was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
Warren had previously been charged in July 2024 with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, unregistered motor vehicle, no inspection and operating without insurance after the Jamestown Police K-9 Unit was assisting the Lakewood-Busti Police Department find a stolen motor vehicle in Jamestown and found the vehicle near Stowe Street, Jamestown. The vehicle was seen being driven away before officers pulled the driver over. Warren had also been sentenced in 2021 to serve a year in the Chautauqua County Jail after he was allegedly found with methamphetamine inside his jail cell after pleading guilty to first-degree attempted promoting prison contraband and petit larceny.
THIRD PLATOON SHIFT
The Third Platoon’s Sept. 15-16 shift was a busy one.
At 11:16 p.m. Sept. 15, officers assisted the Ellicott Police Department with a warrant check at a residence in Celoron, where they found Edwin V. Gibbon, 40, of Jamestown and Heather N. Stanek, 40, of Jamestown and arrested them on outstanding felony warrants stemming from the larceny of an enclosed trailer from a local business. Both were taken to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment. Following arraignment, Gibbon was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail while Stanek was released.
At 11:48 p.m. Sept. 15, officers responded to the area of East Sixth Street and Liberty Street for a report of an RV blocking the intersection. The subsequent investigation led to charges against three people. Vanessa L. Figueredo, 38, of Jamestown was allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl, digital scales and a narcotic cutting agent; Teresa Davis, 62, of Jamestown was allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, digital scales, and a narcotic cutting agent, and Timothy Slater, 60, of Steamburg was allegedly found in possession of cocaine, fentanyl, digital scales, a narcotic cutting agent and suspected proceeds from the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics, according to a Facebook post by the Jamestown Police Department early Wednesday morning. Slater is on New York State Parole for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. All three subjects were taken to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment.
Figueredo was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia; Davis was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia; and Slater was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. Following arraignment, Figueredo and Davis were released while Slater was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.
At 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, officers reportedly saw a suspicious person loitering near the car wash in Brooklyn Square. John T. Hopkins, 53, Jamestown, was found to have an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a prior case. Hopkins was charged and taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned.
At 4:52 a.m. Tuesday, officers on patrol in the area of the 7-Eleven at 1011 East Second St. encountered Conner A. Dale, 18, of Jamestown who was found to have an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a prior case. He was taken into custody and taken to the Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment. He was released following arraignment.
At 5:09 a.m., Tuesday, officers conducted a foot patrol at a homeless encampment on Jamestown’s west side. David A. Blakey, 36, of Jamestown, and Kristine E. McCool, 40, of Jamestown were both taken into custody on active bench warrants for failure to appear in court on prior cases. Both were held pending arraignment but were later released.
Police then responded at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to UPMC Chautauqua for a report of an unwanted person. Christopher Celli, 59, was allegedly found to have damaged another individual’s bicycle by throwing it. Celli was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, taken to the city jail until he could be arraigned and later released.
At 5:59 a.m., officers patrolling the area near the 7-Eleven at 518 N. Main St. encountered Danielle R. Raynor, 37, of Jamestown. Raynor had an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court on a prior case. During the arrest, Raynor allegedly resisted but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. She was taken to the Jamestown City Jail and charged with resisting arrest in addition to her bench warrant. She was held pending arraignment and later released.
