Angelo Valentino was moved when he saw a post on Facebook.
It was truly an act of kindness.
Valentino is co-producer of Chautauqua’s Got Talent held each spring at The Spire Theater, 317 E. Third St.
In an effort to help defray costs with the upkeep, including the roof, of the building, former CGT contestants, Sebastian Hulett and Autumn Pupo, without consulting Valentino, decided to hold a fundraiser for the theater. The event also has a new title: Rock the Roof, instead of Raise the Roof.
“I saw on Facebook, fundraiser for The Spire Theater — location to be determined,” Valentino said. “I don’t know what this is, but I was very touched. I actually cried when I saw the post.”
The fundraiser just so happens to coincide with Inspirefest, the same kind of event that Valentino usually holds to help defray upkeep costs.
Valentino said there were several locations that did not work out, so Valentino suggested that Hulett and Pupo use the theater to hold their fundraiser. Saturday was already booked, so it was virtually a no-brainer to hold the fundraiser at The Spire.
From about 3 until 10 p.m., Velentino said, there are several bands scheduled to perform on three different stages, including the theater, and the banquet hall that is also located in the building.
“It’s a constant flow of music all day long,” Valentino said.
To make it a fun, family event, he added, there will be other activities including face painting.
“It’s so heartening to see that,” Valentino said. “I didn’t even have to ask any people (to help).”
