Fodor, DiPalma Re-Appointed To JCC Board For Another Term

Two Jamestown Community College Trustees were re-appointed Tuesday for another term.

Both the Rev. Luke Fodor, and Louis DiPalma will retain their board seats until June 30, 2032.

In a June 30, 2025 letter to Jamestown City Council members, city Mayor Kim Ecklund nominated Fodor to be re-appointed. Fodor said he was filling a vacated seat due to retirement.

“I am grateful for the opportunity as the mayor appointed me,” Fodor said. “I am happy to serve the City of Jamestown and this community. … I am excited to continue on learning at this point, and just kind of figuring out how to serve Jamestown Community College.”

According to sunyjcc.edu, Fodor, of Jamestown, holds graduate degrees from the University of Durham in England, New York University, and Bexley Hall Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. He is the rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Jamestown where in addition to performing all priestly functions, he leads annual stewardship campaigns, facilitates partnerships and creates innovative outreach programming for the community.

Fodor is vice president for the YMCA, co-chair for Jamestown Renaissance Corp, and serves as part of the City of Jamestown Riverfront Management Commission, City of Jamestown Local Development Corporation, and the Advisory Board of the Mental Health Association.

DiPalma also was recommended for re-appointment by Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel.

DiPalma, of Fredonia, is a former vice president of Lake Shore Savings Bank. He earned a bachelor’s degree at SUNY Fredonia and a master’s degree in public administration at SUNY Albany, according to the website. DiPalma served previously as executive director of the Private Industry Council, vice president of NOG, Inc., and executive vice president of the Northern Chautauqua Chamber of Commerce, among other roles in area businesses and organizations. He has been a member of the Brooks Memorial Hospital board of trustees, Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care board of directors, and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation’s local economic development committee. He also served on the board of AAA of Western and Central New York and as president of Progress Park.

In a related matter, trustees also approved a first reading of their by-laws, which would amend, specifically, Article IV (officers), subsection B.

The article states “The officers of the board shall be elected in odd numbered years at the board’s first meeting of the fiscal year for a term of two years. The officers shall not be eligible for re-election to more than three successive terms without a lapse of at least one year between the time of prior service.”

Board Attorney Dana Lundberg said instead of six years, officers may serve for additional two years, making the total eight years.

“It would go from a potential maximum of six (years) to a potential maximum of eight (years),” Lundberg said.

The office seats are chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, and finance and audit committee chairperson.

Even though he is in favor of an amendment, Trustee Daniel Heitzenrater had some reservations.

“The timing is difficult,” Heitzenrater said. “I would feel a lot better if we talked about it in January.”

The board plans to discuss a second reading at its September meeting.
