The restaurant has been in operation since 1950.
“I attribute our longevity to our staff, and our customers who have always been loyal to our business through the years. We couldn’t have been blessed to celebrate 75 years without them,” said third-generation owner Leslie Genareo.
Genareo said the original owners, Bob and Margrete, started the restaurant and treated everyone fairly, and like family.
“That began the successful tradition that was carried out by their son and daughter-in-law, second-generation owners, Ron and Linda Davidson, and what we continue with today in our third generation,” Genareo added.

According to davidsonsfishfry.com, Davidson’s Restaurant was founded by Bob and Margrete Davidson in 1950, opening as an ice cream stand that served sandwiches. Decades of change included a time the family lived in the back of the restaurant, a period in the 60s of having car hop service, and continues as the family-style eatery. For the past 40 years, their son Ron Davidson and his wife Linda have kept the family tradition alive and are proud that Davidson’s is considered a local favorite.
In 2013, Davidson’s, located at 398 E. Fairmount Ave., welcomed third-generation owner Leslie Davidson Genareo to serve customers.
The restaurant continues to serve more than three tons of fish a month, the website noted.
Although the fish fry is a big-selling item, Genareo said the menu really has not changed.
“Although for years we try and keep up with some current trends, we have found the menu to mostly stay the same over the years. We have our core menu items like fish, pressure fried chicken, burgers, steaks, and have kept that (core menu items) the main focus. Sometimes it’s best to focus on what you are the best at,” Genareo said.

Aside from the fish fry, and the pressure fried chicken, Genareo has other menu favorites that stand out to her.
“I have fond memories coming home from college to visit, and always ordering the hot roast beef with gravy over potatoes. There is something very comforting about that meal,” she said.
She added other standouts are the rice pudding, a recipe passed down from her grandmother Doris Erickson, and the Cuban sandwich, also passed down by her grandmother.
Genareo said that the restaurant business can get hectic and chaotic at times.
“But every shift usually starts with a smile and small talk with our fellow employees since it’s a big, sometimes dysfunctional, but lovely family we have here – wouldn’t want it any other way,” she said.
