The city’s finance committee has received an update from the comptroller on where the American Rescue Plan Act funds for the year currently stand.
During last week’s work session, Councilman Brent Sheldon, R-Ward 1 and chair of the finance committee, during his report to the council said City Comptroller Erika Thomas spoke with the finance committee about the funds.
“So far this year we’ve only spent around $265,000 but we have 31 active projects that are currently ongoing,” Sheldon said.
These projects include things such as a shooting range set to be placed in the basement of the city hall building. There is just under $8.2 million left in the city’s ARPA funds at this point, which Sheldon added has all been allocated at this point.
“There’s a possibility that if some of that comes in under budget we may have some money left over at the end,” Sheldon said. “We won’t count our chickens before they hatch but that could be a good thing.”
According to the city of Jamestown’s website, the city was given $28,079,145 in funding from the federal government through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
