LAKEWOOD – Concertgoers in Lakewood now will be able to consume alcohol.
In November 2024, Lakewood Village Trustees approved a resolution to hold the Rock The Lake Concert Series at Richard O. Hartley Park. Monday, trustees approved a modified resolution.
The series, presented by the Lakewood Community Development Corp., consists of four free shows to be held at Richard O. Hartley Park from 2 to 5 p.m. The show dates are July 6, July 27, Aug. 10, and Aug. 24.
The modified resolution calls for the serving and consumption of alcohol on village grounds in a designated area during the specified time for the concerts.
“This resolution approves the serving and consumption of alcohol to the sponsors, 21 years old and over, exclusively served in the designated sponsor (LCDC) tent during these concerts only,” said Trustee Ellen Barnes.

Barnes added that the LCDC has to comply with following requirements: New York State law, village law(s), and New York State Liquor Authority regulations. Private security will control access to the tent.
“Private security or trained staff will issue wristbands or badges or identifiers to those who are 21 years and over who enter the tent. Further, there will be alcohol signage in the tent area that no alcoholic beverages will be allowed to be taken outside of the designated sponsor tent area or handed to any person outside of the sponsor tent area,” Barnes noted.
Barnes said the LCDC has to provide village officials a copy of the required state Liquor Authority temporary permit. The LCDC also has to provide village officials with copies of the certificates of insurance for general liability, liquor liability, and naming the Village of Lakewood as an additional insured.
Each show will be able to be viewed by land or water.
“I know we can make it (the series) successful,” said Michelle Turner with the LCDC at the November meeting. “The intent is to encourage boaters.”
