CLYMER — The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation has reached out to the town of Clymer with another potential funding option to add more equipment to the town park’s playground if the town board chooses.
During the June meeting of the town board, Deputy Supervisor Todd Kolstee said the CRCF contacted him and that they were the ones they received the original grant from for the park’s new playground equipment that is currently there.
“I don’t know how much utilization we get out of the playground,” Kolstee said. “I mean I’ve seen some people down there, you know, at times.”
Town Supervisor Brian Willink said one neighbor approached him and said they appreciated the new stuff because they take their grandchildren there on occasion. He said some money is put aside to help fund things in the park every year, but it is not enough because playground equipment is expensive.
“I mean, if they’re aware of a funding opportunity we can certainly give it a shot,” Willink said.
The board agreed to have Kolstee work on it as he was also one of the main people involved last time, saying that there is some space still in the playground and the bumpers holding the pine chips in place are meant to be expandable. Willink said they will see what the funding opportunity is from the CRCF and go from there.
Also in the town park, Highway Superintendent Scott Trisket said with the help of some high school students they will be staining the park’s picnic tables. The board discussed the color, saying that they used red last time because it matched the old pavilion, but wanted something different to match the new one this time. Trisket said he would have them do just a clear sealer as the stain and keep it looking more natural.
