Local Crime Book Author Takes A Spin Into The Supernatural With Newest Novel

“Prisoners of Darkness” by TJ Buck focuses on Marco Fernandez, a former FBI agent who is looking for his missing twin sister.

TJ Buck is most well-known as an author of nine crime novels in the past, but his newest novel “Prisoners of Darkness” steps away from his familiar genre a little, and into the world of the supernatural.

“Prisoners of Darkness” is what Buck described as “X-Files meets Frankenstein with vampires.” The story focuses on the main character, Marco Fernandez, a 50 year old former FBI agent who’s twin sister Eva went missing when they were 16. At the same time the government has been experimenting on turning people into weapons, but when they cannot control what they created they start turning people into vampires. Fernandez finds his missing sister is one of these vampires, and Buck said the basic story is them fighting the government together.

“I’ve written nine crime novels now, so I wanted to try something different,” Buck said. “I’ve been reading a lot of horror novels. It took a while to figure out how to do it, but I decided to start with a crime novel with vampires and took it from there.”

Buck said fans of his other novels should still be interested in “Prisoners of Darkness,” even though it is a different genre, as it is still like his crime novels, just with a supernatural twist. He noted that his books are for entertainment only and not meant to be serious matters, and he was looking for a different way to go about writing novels. Additionally, Buck said the book has received good reviews from people around the world so far, including in places like Australia, India and England.

As far as future novels go, Buck currently has a comic crime novel he is working on, “Grappling with Trouble,” focused on twin wrestlers who get banned from wrestling and end up working with a suspicious private investigator. He said he also has several other ideas in the works.
