Jamestown Community College officials may have a potential buyer for the Annex Building located on Second Street.

Members of the Building and Grounds Committee met Tuesday and briefly discussed the sale from a potential buyer.

“We do have one, appears to be, serious inquiry from Social Enterprise Group,” said Kathleen Dennison, JCC interim vice president/finance and operations.

The group had asked JCC to take the building off the market for 180 days, but Dennison said the building is still actively listed. However, the group did request information about the building. JCC Counsel Dana Lundberg said the information is in the college’s possession.

“The information they’ve asked for is all the existing information in the college’s possession, so it’s not incurring expense to get title update surveys or anything new,” Lundberg added. “There wouldn’t be a direct cost of the college to provide.”

Dennison said she sees the inquiry as a positive development. She added that a potential sale is moving forward.

“We’re hopeful,” Dennison said

In a Dec. 9, 2024 Post-Journal article, Dennison said when JCC attempted to move forward demolishing the building, the state Office of Historical Preservation opposed the plan.

“It is unlikely that we will ever be given approval to demolish it,” she said in 2024.

At that time Dennison requested permission from the county Planning Board to redirect the funds it was given for demolition and instead use them to cover their costs for asbestos abatement, which is required if the college sells the building.

Starting at $3.50/week.
