County Sets Salaries For Positions In DA Office, EMS

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office has a new position to help with state regulations regarding discovery.

During the county legislature meeting, lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution to set the salary of a Discovery Facilitator for the District Attorney’s Office. The salary will be set between $28.50 to $37.44 an hour.

In a committee meeting, District Attorney Jason Schmidt said they already have a Discovery Expediter who gathers body cam video from various county police agencies and prepares them for the defense in trials, as required by law. Their Discovery Expediter will take over this new role, with additional work duties.

The new title was needed due to union and civil service requirements.

The legislature also set the salary of a chief paramedic at $30.51 to $40.26 an hour.

In committee meetings, officials with Emergency Medical Services noted that they have three paramedics. One of them would be promoted to chief paramedic and have additional responsibilities.

In other business:

The county is hoping the work will be finished this year.
