The 2025 season of Chautauqua’s Got Talent is racing toward its conclusion.

After a fierce and emotional semifinals on Monday, the audience votes revealed multiple ties, forcing producers to expand the finale lineup from the expected 10 to 11 finalists.

This year’s semifinals had everything – spiritual music, country, show tunes, folk, 1980s pop, rock, disco and soul-stirring ballads. Contestants brought their very best, and the evening was peppered with collaborative moments that captured the spirit of the CGT community.

Howard McAvoy, a crowd favorite from earlier rounds, made a surprise return – not as a contestant, but as a musician – wowing the audience with his guitar work backing Meghan Kelsey and accompanying Gracelyn Kohler, joined by Sebastian Hulett in an unexpected and moving debut on keyboard.

Amaya Thompson was supported by former finalist Jolee Shults and CGT winner-turned-stage-manager Derik Davis. Meanwhile, Shelby Storms was backed by CGT alums Jared Pierce and Sean Herbin, adding layers of talent and history to the evening.

Christine Porter performs Monday at Chautauqua’s Got Talent at The Spire Theater, 317 E. Third St. Porter moved on to the finals.

“This is what CGT is all about,” said Angelo Valentino, co-producer. “Watching past and present contestants lift each other up, share the stage, and create something greater than the sum of its parts – it’s inspiring.”

“Every vote counted last night. It was so close that we had no choice but to expand the finale roster. The audience is shaping the story of this season,” added Ylsa Maj, co-producer and CGT judge. “We’ve got an extraordinary mix of voices, styles, and stories heading into Finale Night.”

Jamie Lee, fellow judge and longtime supporter of CGT, echoed the excitement.

“Even if you haven’t been to a show yet, don’t miss this one. This cast is giving everything they’ve got–and it’s truly entertaining from start to finish.”

Finalists are: Amaya Thompson, Christine Porter, Daughters of Thunder, Dewayne Moore, Emeleerose Mason, Gracelyn (Nevaah) Kohler, Kadyn and Marc, Kambria Kennedy, Paige Silverman, Rocco Oliverio, and Shelby Storms.

The contest concludes with the finals on Monday, May 19, at 7 p.m., at The Spire Theater, 317 E. Third St. Doors open at 6 p.m., Tickets are available at inspirejamestown.com.
