LAKEWOOD – The Village Board has a new trustee.

John Shedd was sworn into office Monday as he was appointed by Mayor Randy Holcomb prior to the meeting.

Shedd’s appointment comes after Richard Fischer resigned his position on Aug. 9. Holcomb stated that, at the time, the board was looking to fill the vacancy. Shedd will serve until 2025 when his seat will be up for election.

In the event a trustee was not appointed, the village would have conducted business as a three-trustee board and mayor, until the next election.

“He brings a lot to the table,” Holcomb said. “It’s positive for the board and the whole village.
