Fall Fun For All: 10 Area Autumn Events Not To Miss

With the approach of the fall season comes many different fall-themed events in the local area for the community to check out throughout the next few months.

On Saturday from 2 to 11 p.m., Sherman is holding its third annual Music Festival at the Cooler Bar and Grille and Edmund Park. Musicians for this year include; Tito and Vince, Dean Wells, Derek Davis, Brian Chase, and Honky Tonk Heroes. There will also be food and craft vendors, Connect Four Basketball, a volleyball tournament and a 50/50 giveaway.

Constitution Day at the Robert H Jackson Center, 305 East Fourth St. in Jamestown, is set for Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. Dr. Karen Korematsu who is the Founder and President of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute and the daughter of the late civil rights icon, Fred Korematsuwill be the featured speaker. Constitution Day recognizes U.S. Congress’ adoption of the United States Constitution in 1787 and, since 1941, as also Citizenship Day to honor all who are U.S. citizens regardless of their path to attainment.

The 50th annual Busti Apple Festival is set for Sept. 28 and 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Busti Historical Society, 3443 Lawson Road in Jamestown. The event will be held rain or shine and will include old-time craft demonstrators, a working grist mill, and the 1840s miller’s house restoration project, over 100 hand-made craft vendors, food, fresh baked pies, apple cider, apples and horse drawn carriage rides.

The CHQ Trailblazer Challenge will be on Oct. 5 at 4731 West Lake Road in Chautauqua. This event is a 5K obstacle adventure that will allow participants to overcome obstacles while enjoying nature. There will also be a Squirrel Scramble for ages five through 12, with participants in the races able to get their own T-shirt if they register before Sept 30 and refreshments and prizes afterwards at the banquet hall of the Chautauqua Golf Course.

The Panama Rocks Foliage Festival will be on Oct. 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission is free and the festival will include craft and food vendors, music and fall/Halloween themed entertainment.

On Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Northwest Arena, 319 West Third Street in Jamestown, will be the Nightscape Studios Horror Festival. The event will include celebrities, live entertainment, discussion panels, vendors, film screenings, kids’ activities, cosplay, costume contests, games and prizes, and more horror and Halloween themed activities.

The Fenton History Center’s Halloween Spirit Tour is set for Oct. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Located at 67 Washington St., the Fenton’s spirit tours cost $30 for members or $35 for non-members. There is a limit of 30 tickets per tour. The tour will be presented by Kaycee Colburn, Fenton Trustee, artist, paranormal investigator and spiritual intuitive.

The village of Mayville will be hosting a Trick-Or-Treat through the village businesses on Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 38 South Erie S. Multiple businesses will be involved and allow trick-or-treaters to play games, get treats and more as a part of their Halloween night.

The Cat Video Fest will be held at the Reg Lenna Center, 116 E. Third St. in Jamestown, on Nov. 16 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Cat Video Fest is presented by Oscilloscope Laboratories and puts together the latest and best cat videos culled from received submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses. Ten percent of ticket sales benefit the Chautauqua County Humane Society and are currently on sale.

Bemus Point, the Peek’n Peak in Clymer, and Lakewood all have scheduled fall festivals. Bemus Point’s Fall Fest will be from Sept. 13 to 15 and have vendors, fall food specials at restaurants, “Draw-a-Leaf” discounts at stores, a petting zoo, open houses and more. Lakewood’s Fall Fest is set for Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pea Pod and Juniper, 141 Chautauqua Ave. in Lakewood and will include vendors and music.

The Peek’n Peak in Clymer’s Fall Festival is Oct. 12,13,19 and 20, promising two weekends of fall fun, including a craft show, farmers’ market, the pumpkin cannon, children’s games, live entertainment, pony rides, ski lift rides, classic car cruise-in, an the annual snow sports equipment sale.
