JPD Investigating Saturday Shootings
Jamestown police officers are investigating two shootings on Saturday.
Officers responded to the area of Lafayette Street near Isabella Avenue for a reported gunshot complaint at 7:15 p.m. According to a police report, officers saw several shell casings in the area and began to secure the scene. A short time later a man arrived at UPMC Chautauqua with an injury police said was consistent with a gunshot wound. The man was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
Then, at 8:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a gunshot complaint in the area near Columbia Avenue. Officers found rounds had struck a home in the neighborhood, with no injuries to anyone in the neighborhood.
“We don’t think it’s a random act,” said Scott Forster, deputy Jamestown police chief. “It appears to be a targeted situation.”
Both incidents are under investigation by the Investigative Section of the Jamestown Police Department. Information regarding these incidents can be provided to the Jamestown Police Department at 716-483-7537 or the confidential tips line at 716-483-8477.
“We’ve made contact with some people with some cameras and we’re looking at that stuff,” Forster said. “Obviously this is one of those things where we have to rely on people coming forward and telling us what happened with it.”
