Jamestown firefighters extinguished a fire at 289 S. Main St. on Tuesday night.
Dozens of neighbors watched as firefighters put out the blaze, which started shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday. One neighbor stood outside his home with a garden hose, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to either neighboring home.
Firefighters were able to search the home and found no one inside before attacking the fire from outside the home, with water sprayed on the back, and from the inside. The fire was under control quickly. Firefighters spent most of their time dealing with the second floor and the attic of the home.
Off-shift firefighters were called in to help fight the fire. Thick smoke blanketed the area until firefighters put the fire out.
