LAKEWOOD – Ashley Whippo makes sure to pay attention to every detail.

And because Whippo does, she said, Marquise Bridal Boutique is unique.

Since helping her great aunt with her bridal boutique in Bolivar, Whippo has had her sights set on her own boutique.

“I kind of grew up knowing about the boutique and helping out in the summers,” Whippo said of her great aunt’s boutique. … It always seemed so fun,” Whippo said. “my favorite part was seeing how beautiful the brides-to-be were,” Whippo said

Whippo added that it is a natural fit for her to open up her own boutique. She loves fashion, and added her mother was a tomboy, and that Whippo didn’t start learning about fashion until she went to college.

“And then I fell in love with clothes, and keeping up with the trends” Whippo said.

While walk-ins are welcome, in order to try on a dress, brides-to-be will have to make an appointment at the boutique, located at 117 Chautauqua Ave.

Whippo also said that not only does the boutique carry bridal gowns, but also formal wear for grooms and groomsmen, including tuxedo rentals and tuxedo buy options.

Also on her website, marquisebridalboutique.com, she is creating a community vendor guide, where brides-to-be can see what kind of ancillary services are available like photography, videography, entertainment, floral arrangements, cakes and sweets, planners and designers, venues, decor, stationary, catering, hair and make-up, jewelry, gifts and favors, officiants, and alteration specialists.

“We provide a genuine platform where brides and grooms have an opportunity to connect with local vendors; providing transparency, education, and information on all things wedding industry-related here in our local community,” Whippo said. “We are aiming to give the modern couple inspiration from real weddings hosted by local vendors.”

Whippo said she has different designer lines for dresses and tuxedos. She said she hand-picks the lines for every size and silhouette, ensuring that brides-to-be find their “yes” moments while also providing private fitting rooms, and a stylist.

“We have a need for this type of boutique to come to our community. My plan is to be a go-to location for all local and surrounding brides to come and find their dream dress,” Whippo said.

Whippo said she chose the name after a Marquise cut diamond.
