City Man Sentenced To 20 Years In 2021 Shooting Death

Jonathan Camacho-Monge

A Jamestown man charged in the October 2021 shooting death of another city resident has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

Jonathan Camacho-Monge also was sentenced Monday by County Court Judge David Foley to five years of post-release supervision, Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt announced.

The 24-year-old Camacho-Monge pleaded guilty in September to a charge of first-degree manslaughter for his role in the shooting death of Angel Pacheco outside his Water Street home in Jamestown. The homicide occurred the night of Oct. 19, 2021.

Camacho-Monge previously pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge when he was arraigned in October 2022. He has remained jailed in Mayville after Foley set bail at $250,000 cash, $500,000 property bond.

The homicide case was scheduled to go to trial before Camacho-Monge pleaded guilty to the manslaughter charge.

Jamestown officers had been summoned to Pacheco’s home for a reported gunshot victim. Pacheco, 46, was taken by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua where he later died of his injuries.

A woman who lives near the scene told The Post-Journal at the time, “We heard a boom, and before you know it we seen lights going by the house. Someone came by and heard on the scanner it was a gunshot.”

The case had been delayed early on for about six months because Camacho-Monge was being held in Pennsylvania on a separate felony-level charge.
