Piggy-backing on last week’s tribute to Jimmy Buffett, whose music, personality, and fandom was/is a big part of Sally’s and my life as Parrotheads, Jimmy, along with singing songs with emotion and meaning, was known to make statements worthy of being quoted in many forums of writing and speaking. In our special relationship with Jimmy (who we never met personally, but saw in concert 16 times, and where all Parrotheads, can say they had a special relationship with him), he’s done many interviews, and said many things at concerts worthy of being quoted by many. He was an artist, philosopher, teacher, bard, and judging by this list of quotes, an orator too. He created a culture, a special part of life for those called Parrotheads. He wasn’t god, or magician, yet his music was religious-like, created by a magical mind and pen. He was a man who loved life, people, and what he did, while attracting a following, where he became an iconic spokesperson for peace, humanity and enjoying life. He described himself in one song’s lyrics when he sang, “He’s living his life like a song.” He worked hard using, and sharing, his talents to give others the chance to join him on his amazing journey.

A response in my favorite baseball movie, when it was asked if there was a heaven was, “Oh yeah, it’s the place dreams come true.” Jimmy Buffett created a “heaven” on earth for many.
