A Jamestown McDonald’s restaurant with east-side ties dating back decades has closed its doors.

Several trucks were at the 1411 E. Second St. location Monday morning while a sign on one of the drive-thru windows states, “Restaurant Closing. Thank you for your patronage!”

No reason for the closure has been announced.

The McDonald’s is one of several restaurants in the Jamestown area, with others located on Foote Avenue in the city and on Fairmount Avenue and North Main Street Extension in the town of Ellicott.

On Monday, trucks were blocking the entrances to the East Second Street location.

A grand re-opening for the restaurant was held in December 2007 after about 100 days of construction. At the time, the franchise owner announced 20 new employees and a host of additional menu items.

The new building replaced an older one at the same site, next to Tiffany Avenue and at the Jamestown-Falconer line.

“I’m glad that we’re open,” the franchise owner, Tom Meyers, told The Post-Journal in late November 2007. “The old building had been here since 1972 and it was time for a change.”

Meyers touted the East Second Street McDonald’s — with its larger footprint and offerings.

“Everything we’ve done helps set us apart from our competition,” he said. “With the larger dining room and side-by-side drive-thru, we can better serve our customers and continue to grow the business.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
