Dance Alliance — a premier dance company from Brigham Young University-Idaho — is stopping by the Reg Lenna as a part of their current tour.

The company is made up of 35 dancers from the university, representing the top dance talent there. Their “Look Up” tour takes them to places such as New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and goes from July 20 to Aug 2. Dance Alliance will be at the Reg Lenna on July 25.

Local Program Organizer with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Michael Micciche, said the company reached out to them to schedule the local stop on the tour.

“Brigham Young University is one of the universities the church supports, so they reached out to us and asked about a local venue,” Micciche said. “We found an opening at the Reg Lenna, so that’s how that all came about.”

Dance Alliance’s performance on the 25th will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for ages 12 and under. Tickets are currently on sale at the Reg Lenna Box Office, at reglenna.com, or by calling (716)484-7070. All proceeds go toward St Susan Center and UCAN City Mission.

Tour Coordinator for the company, Amy Baldauf, said the company has been featured in many places around the world throughout the years.

“BYU-Idaho Dance Alliance puts on an absolutely stunning performance — so much variety, incredible talent,” Baldauf said. “Since its creation in 1978, the company has toured throughout the United States and in many countries around the world including El Salvador, Panama, Mexico, Brazil, New Zealand, Fiji, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Ecuador, and Austria.”

The performance at the Reg Lenna is set for one and a half hours, featuring 22 numbers back-to-back of a variety of dance genres including ballroom, Latin swing, ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern, foot works, and world dance.

Baldauf said people should take the opportunity to come to the Reg Lenna on the 25th for the show.

“It’s really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this outstanding program, as the tour program, the dance company, and the tour destinations vary from year to year,” Baldauf said. “Patrons are sure to leave the show in awe of the talent and energy of the performance. It is an affordable way to enjoy extraordinary entertainment the whole family will enjoy.”

This will be the first time Dance Alliance has ever performed at the Reg Lenna, but Baldauf said they would welcome the chance again in the future. Additionally, she said the company is important for the university as it represents some of the best dancers they have.

“It is an elite auditioned dance company representing some of the best talent on campus,” Baldauf said. “Dance Alliance aims to both inspire and entertain audiences of all ages. Whether you are a dancer or enjoy watching dance, this program will impress.”

The company is also made up of dancers not just from the United States, but Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan as well. A few members are graduating the day before the tour starts, so the tour will be their final dance experience of their college career.

“Coming to this part of the country and performing has been a dream for many of these dancers for many years, and this year that dream comes true,” Baldauf said. “To prepare for the tour, the company performed their show in Idaho to a sold-out audience every night for a week.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
