Love In the Name of Christ is celebrating “Love Month” by encouraging the local community to demonstrate love to others.

Susan Justham, executive director, told The Post-Journal that February is “Love Month,” which is a time for the community to focus on “loving their neighbor.”

“This year we put together 28 challenge ideas to encourage the churches to get involved, not only loving your neighbor in need by partnering with Love INC, but also loving your neighbor in general,” she said. “It’s not just about Love INC, but it’s about loving people in general.”

Some of Love INC’s challenges include sending a card to someone in need of encouragement, calling a friend, praying for the ministry of Love INC, hosting a fundraising event, collecting a love offering for Love INC and baking a special treat for a neighbor.

Justham explained that the ministry’s “Love Month” challenges provide a combination of opportunities for community members to team up with the ministry as well as simple ideas to show love for others.

While the ministry of Love INC celebrates “Love Month” every February, Justham said the ministry tries to “change it up” every year to give people a variety of ways to show love for their neighbors.

“We’ve just kind of created challenges this year to encourage people to get involved,” she said. “A lot of times, people don’t know how they can serve, so it’s a platform to try and generate ideas of how to get involved.”

To access the full list of Love INC’s “Love Month” challenge ideas, community members can visit Love INC’s website (loveincscc.org).

Justham said the daily challenges could be as simple as scheduling an appointment with her to learn more about the ministry of Love INC or as complex as organizing a fundraising event in the community.

“We came up with 28 based on the 28 days in February,” she said. “It’s not a specific day challenge, so it’s not matched like February 1 you do this; it’s not that kind of thing. It’s just 28 ideas they can jump into at some point.”

While the 28 daily challenges provide a fun way for community members to show love to those around them, Justham said the “Love Month” challenges also reflect the mission of the ministry.

“Love INC’s mission is to help churches help people,” she said, “so it’s an opportunity of providing ideas of how they can get involved.”
