Dunkirk Man Charged As Search Yields Drugs, Weaponry

DUNKIRK — A 22-year-old Dunkirk man is facing charges after being found with drugs and high-capacity weaponry.

Around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigators and Buffalo Police Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at 5040 Route 5 Lot 22 in the town. Assisting with the search warrant was the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, FBI Safe Streets, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Dunkirk Police Department and Jamestown Police Department K-9. Present in the residence was Malique J. Carter.

As a result of the search, investigators found 7.6 grams of cocaine, scales and packaging material for the distribution of narcotics, $1,730 in U.S. currency and a 9mm high-capacity magazine.

Carter was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia. Carter was transported to the Centralized Arraignment Program at the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Jail for arraignment.
