WARREN, Pa. — Pills similar to those associated with recent Warren County deaths and a man accused of bringing them to the county are off the street Friday.

The Warren County Drug Task Force conducted an operation Friday afternoon, netting an Erie man with blue M30 pills.

The investigation into the suspect, whose name was not released immediately, pending filing of charges, began after a confidential source told drug task force agents about his operation, according to Chief Warren County Detective Tom Kibbey.

Task force agents contacted the man in Erie.

On Friday, he drove to a location near Struthers Street in Warren, allegedly to deliver drugs.

Officers from the task force, assisted by Conewango Township Police, City of Warren Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Warren County District Attorney’s Office, and Warren County Adult Probation, were waiting for him and took him into custody without incident.

City of Warren Fire Department was on standby in case of fentanyl exposure, Kibbey said.

The M30 pills could be Percocet — oxycodone. Or, they could be something more dangerous.

“We’re seeing a lot of counterfeit Percocet that contain fentanyl,” Kibbey said.

Those pills are of particular interest in the community.

“We’re putting an emphasis on individuals bringing these pills into Warren County,” he said. “We think similar pills are related to recent overdoses in the community.”

Anyone who encounters blue M30 pills that were not prescribed to them is urged to not touch them and contact the drug task force.

The suspect allegedly brought the pills from Erie, but exactly where they originated is unknown. “It’s common across the United States,” Kibbey said.

He said the suspect would be charged with possession with intent to distribute, criminal use of a communications facility, and possession of a controlled substance.

Further details will be reported when available.
