Emily Blackwood-Head of Jamestown is a finalist in the Face of Horror contest.

The Face of Horror contest is an online competition where people can sign up and create a profile to be the Face of Horror. It is up to them to get people they know to vote for them each round, and there are 13 rounds of voting in all. The grand prize winner wins $13,000, a stay at the Buffalo Bill Hotel — which was featured in Silence of the Lambs, a photo shoot for Rue Morgue Magazine with Kane Hodder, who is known for his role as Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th films, and a role in an upcoming horror film directed by the contest’s host, Jim Vendiola.

“I have a strong acting and theatrical background,” Blackwood-Head said. “I’ve always been intrigued by horror, and I want to reopen the door to my career by being able to connect with such successful people.”

For Blackwood-Head to have gotten this far the community has had to help her out and vote. Each day there is the ability for one free vote for a contestant, or the ability to buy a vote, which gives the person a better chance. All money raised by the contest goes to the B+ Foundation, which fights childhood cancer.

“I’m excited,” Blackwood-Head said. “I’m ecstatic. I have a long way to go though, so I hope the community will help and continue to click on my link and vote for me. I also think it would be cool for someone in this town to be able to say they were the Face of Horror and have a rare accomplishment.”

The current round of voting ends on the 13th. There are four rounds left to go, occurring from Oct 14 to 16, Oct. 17 to 27, Oct. 28 to Nov. 3, and the final cut voting to determine the winner takes place from Nov 4 to 10.

Blackwood-Head appreciates all the community support she has received and hopes that it will continue and get her to the end of the contest.

“Please vote for me,” Blackwood-Head said. “I really appreciate the support. Also, I think it would be pretty cool for people to be able to say ‘the Face of Horror comes from where I live’.”
