County Schools Rank In Poverty Statistics

The Jamestown, Brocton and Dunkirk school districts recently ranked 17 and 21, 32, respectively, on a list of the top 50 Upstate New York Schools in poverty among district throughout the state.

The Post-Journal took a look at poverty rates in Chautauqua County school districts and its neighbors.

Based on school-aged populations from 5-17, Jamestown remains No. 1 and Brocton ranks No. 2 out 20 districts in the region with the highest poverty rate as of 2017. All statistics are taken directly from the Census Bureau fact-finder website and may vary from other sources.

1. The Jamestown Public Schools District has a poverty rate of 40.2 percent for school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 28.5.

2. The Brocton Central School District has a poverty rate of 37.3 for school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 25.5 percent.

3. The Dunkirk City School District has a poverty rate of 33.5 percent for school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 21.9 percent.

4. The Pine Valley Central School District has a poverty rate of 32.2 percent for all school-aged children. The district as a total poverty rate among all people of 21.9 percent.

5. The Salamanca City School District has a poverty rate of 31.3 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 24.8 percent.

6. The Cassadaga Valley Central School District has a poverty rate of 27.5 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 16 percent.

7. The Ripley Central School District has a poverty rate of 27.5 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 14.1 percent.

8. The Chautauqua Lake Central School District has a poverty of 25.2 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 12.7 percent.

9. The Randolph Central School District has a poverty rate of 22.3 percent. The district has total poverty rate among all people of 19.8 percent.

10. The Clymer Central School District has a poverty rate of 21.8 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 12.3 percent.

11. The Westfield Academy and Central School District has a poverty of 19.8 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 16.3 percent.

12. The Forestville Central School District has a poverty rate of 16.5 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 13.3 percent.

13. The Fredonia Central School District has a poverty rate of 16.3 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 17.4 percent.

14. The Sherman Central School District has a poverty rate of 16 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 15.2 percent.

15. The Southwestern Central School District has a poverty rate of 15.1 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 9.8 percent.

16. The Panama Central School District has a poverty rate of 15 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 12.6 percent.

17. The Falconer Central School District has a poverty rate of 14.5 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 14.4 percent.

18. The Frewsburg Central School District has a poverty rate of 7.9 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 7.6 percent.

19. The Bemus Point Central School District has a poverty rate of 4.8 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 8.7 percent.

20. The Silver Creek Central School District has a poverty rate of 4.1 percent for all school-aged children. The district has a total poverty rate among all people of 12.3 percent.
