Three Men Rescued After Boat Overturns Sunday On Chautauqua Lake

Three men were pulled from Chautauqua Lake by Bemus Point Fire Rescue and assisted by Chautauqua County Navigation Officers when their 14-foot john boat overturned due to high winds and waves.

Nicholas Gibbons, 32, of Jamestown, Nathan Gibbons, 31, of Kent, Ohio, and Thomas Parks of Jamestown, were fishing in 18 feet of water off the Interstate 86 Overlook area when a storm rolled through and they attempted to turn towards shore when the winds and waves came over the bow and swamped their small vessel filling it with water. The men clung to the side of the vessel until Bemus Rescue pulled them from the water and transported them to shore.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department Marine Patrol helped with the submerged vessel.

Starting at $3.50/week.
