City Homicide Remains Under Investigation

2 min read

Jamestown police continue to investigate the fatal shooting that claimed the life of 28-year-old Obryan Ramos last month.

According to Captain Robert F. Samuelson, division commander of the Jamestown Police Department, an ongoing investigation has yet to produce anything conclusive.

“We really haven’t had as many tips or links as we had hoped at this point, but we’re working on several leads,” Samuelson said. “We are still actively seeking witnesses and people who may have information on this shooting.”

On June 16, Ramos was shot multiple times by an unknown shooter, who reportedly walked up to the porch of a 853 Prendergast Ave. home just before 6 p.m., opened fire and fled on foot behind the house. Ramos was later pronounced dead at WCA Hospital.

Samuelson said a motive for the shooting remains under investigation, although Ramos may have had a dispute with another person earlier in the day or days prior to the shooting that may provide answers.

“We believe there are people out there who witnessed the shooting who have not come forward,” Samuelson said. “We urge those people to come forward so we can proceed. That information can be processed anonymously if necessary.”

The shooter has been described as black or Hispanic, and was reportedly wearing dark clothes during the shooting, according to police.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7537, or leave an anonymous tip by calling 483-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
