Lynn Development Adding New Businesses
The Lynn Development Group is expanding.
Gary Lynn, Lynn Development Group chief executive officer, and Jason Spain, Lynn Development Group president, said two new businesses will be added to the company that already has several management portfolios. The two new business are Lynn Real Estate Solutions and Lynn Building Solutions.
The focus for Lynn Real Estate Solutions will be commercial sales and acquisitions and commercial property management. The main task for Lynn Building Solutions will be construction, refurbishing and commercial facilities management. Lynn said Lynn Building Solutions will help commercial property owners deal with maintenance situations, which will free time for building owners to focus on more important business aspects. Spain said the business will also mentor building owners in how to handle operating a commercial property.
”(Lynn) Building Solutions can help manage the property so building owners can concentrate on what they are best at,” Lynn said.
Lynn Development Group is the management arm of several portfolio companies. The business’ headquarters is located 301 E. Second St., in the Lynn Building, which was formerly the U.S. Post Office building. The Post Office and the Post Office Credit Union are still located in the building. Lynn said when he first purchased the building, Post Office officials wanted to sign a short-term lease and eventually close the downtown branch. However, Lynn said he didn’t want that to happen so he worked out a deal so the Post Office branch would stay downtown.
”It was real important that we didn’t lose the Post Office downtown,” he said.
The Lynn Building now houses Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and Chautauqua Striders on the first floor of the building. Both of those organizations moved into the building last year. On the second floor, there is CJM Construction Consulting, which Lynn said deals with construction in European countries. Lynn Development Group; Duncanson Law Firm; Saxton, Kocur and Associates; Slick Text; and the U.S. Post Office Credit Union are all located on the third floor. Spain said Slick Text is a technology-based text marketing company; the Duncanson Law Firm is a local law business run by William Duncanson; and Saxton, Kocur and Associates is a local certified public accounting group.
Spain said the first floor of the building is fully occupied. The third floor still has 18,000 square feet available for lease. The second floor the former location of the U.S. Post Office is still available, which has about 20,000 square feet. Spain said they’re looking for a health care or human interest organization to lease that section of the building.
Lynn said, as chief executive officer, he handles oversight of Lynn Development. He said Spain and his two sons, Christopher and Jason Lynn, Lynn Development Group vice presidents, handle the day-to-day business transactions. Lynn said he is now focused on working with Kingdom Building Ministries in helping to facilitate their needs locally and worldwide.
”At 65, it was time for me to pass on authority and responsibility to the next generation. By buying the Post Office building, I’m attempting to create a legacy to support the community and do God’s work for future generations,” he said. ”Since moving to downtown Jamestown, Jason Spain has been able to brand our corporate name to offer new business opportunities by partnering with local investors.”
Lynn said since moving to downtown Jamestown from Falconer, Lynn Development Group has been able to hire a number of additional people. He said the business is now running even more efficiently than when he was making all the decisions.
”The new management team that has formed is more capable than me as an individual,” Lynn said.
