FREWSBURG – Those looking for Hallenbeck Antiques & Estate Sales only have to look across the street to find the business’s new location.

On Easter Sunday, a space heater is believed to have sparked a fire that destroyed Hallenbeck Antiques & Estate Sales, which was located at 30 W. Main St., Frewsburg.

Ellis Hallenbeck, business owner, has set up a new shop for his antiques, gold and silver exchange in his other business located across the street at 27 W. Main St. Last year, Hallenbeck opened up Hallenbeck Antiques & Estate Sales Liquidation Center to host estate sales once or twice a month. The liquidation center is now the new temporary home of the antiques and estate sales business.

However, people won’t have far to go for Hallenbeck’s new more permanent location for his antiques and estate sales business. It will be located in the current location of Angel Hair, which is located in the same building next to the liquidation center. Hallenbeck said the current operator of Angel Hair will be moving to a new spot in Frewsburg at the end of April. He said the beginning of May he will be conducting business from his new location.

”We’re continuing our gold and silver operation. We’re not out of business,” Hallenbeck said. ”I don’t want to quit buying gold and silver. People just need to look across the street.”

Hallenbeck said while he is located in the liquidation center, there will be no estate sales. However, once he moves out of the liquidation center, he will be hosting estate sales once again.

”It was a blessing that I opened this business and bought this building,” he said. ”It was a good thing I had something that I could move into.”

Hallenbeck said it has been a challenge at times to continue his business because he lost a lot of equipment in the fire.

”I find each day more and more things we need to get,” he said. ”I lost safes and equipment for both businesses in the fire.”

Hallenbeck said his old business where the fire occurred will be demolished in the next couple weeks. He said he has already received interest from people wanting to buy the property.

Hallenbeck expressed appreciation to all the fire departments who participated in extinguishing the fire.

”It could have been much worse than it was with the closeness of the buildings,” he said. ”I would also like to thank the community for their outpouring of support.”
