A Jamestown woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after her child allegedly stole a car and had an accident while fleeing from police.
Amber M. Giancotti, 41, of Jamestown was charged after an incident that began around 2:33 a.m. Friday. Police report trying to pull a vehicle over for an alleged traffic violation when the driver allegedly fled and later crashed on Pratt Avenue. Officers found a youth in the area who was charged and taken to the Jamestown Police Department. Giancotti, the youth’s mother was notified and came to the Jamestown Police Department, where she was charged with endangering the welfare of a child (failure to exercise control of a minor). Giancotti was held in the city jail until she could be arraigned.
The vehicle involved in the accident was found to be stolen from a Jamestown address. The vehicle hadn’t been reported stolen at the time of the accident.
