A Kennedy man has been charged on multiple rape charges following a secret indictment.
According to Chautauqua County Assistant District Attorney Mike Pisko, Major Sterns was indicted on three counts of first-degree rape and three counts of third-degree rape following a court appearance Aug. 25.
Stearns had a different felony court appearance on a gun charge and was indicted on the rape charges during that court appearance.
Bail was set at $150,000 cash/$250,000 property/$500,000 partially secured at 10% and was released after he posted the bail requirement.
It is alleged that Sterns raped a person in Kennedy on May 31.
The case was investigated by State Police.
