CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
– BROCTON – Major D. Stearns, 34, of Kennedy was charged with second-degree criminal contempt at 12:52 p.m. Sunday after deputies responded to an address in Brocton for a reported in progress order of protection violation. Stearns was taken to the county jail for centralized arraignment.
– BEMUS POINT – Joseph K. Kirkpatrick, 43, of Bradford Woods, Pa., was charged with DWI, speed in zone and unlicensed operator at 12:55 a.m. Sunday after a traffic stop on Bemus Point-Ellery Road in the village of Bemus Point. Kirkpatrick will be in Ellery Town Court later.
– CHERRY CREEK – Several fire departments responded to a structure fire at 6630 Main St., Cherry Creek, at 12:01 a.m. Monday. The county Fire Investigation Team was requested to investigate the fire's origins. No injuries were reported. The structure is a total loss, according to a police report. The investigation is continuing.
LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE
– LAKEWOOD – Michael J. Thorp, 35, of Fluvanna was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI (blood-alcohol content .18% or higher), aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law violation child in vehicle), resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, moving from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable or prudent, open container in a motor vehicle and failure to use designated lane at 11:05 p.m. Sunday after officers on patrol on East Fairmount Avenue allegedly saw a vehicle speeding, move from its lane unsafely and fail to use its designated lane. Thorp allegedly resisted arrest and was placed into custody after a brief struggle. Thorp will be in Busti Town Court later.
