JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Megan B. Leeper, 25, of Jamestown, was charged June 7 with driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol, DWI with a child in the vehicle, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and other traffic infractions. According to police, at about 8:06 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of West Harrison Street and Barret Avenue, when they observed a vehicle stopped in the intersection with a damaged street sign, and a stop sign lodged underneath it. Officers, police said, initiated a traffic stop, and identified Leeper as the driver. During the course of the investigation, officers determined that Leeper allegedly was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs and alcohol. Further investigation revealed that four children under the age of 16 were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Leeper was placed into custody without incident, and taken to Jamestown City Jail. She will be in Jamestown City Court later.

– William Dudley, 59, of Jamestown was charged June 6 with petit larceny. According to police, at about 5:32 p.m., officers responded to a Southside business for a shoplifting complaint. Officers, police said, discovered that Dudley allegedly had concealed merchandise on his person, and left without paying. Dudley was located nearby the store, and placed into custody without incident. He was taken to the city jail, and will be in city court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

– Joshua J. Aman, 41, of Celoron, was charged May 27 with DWI and aggravated DWI. According to officials, at about 6:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to an incident in the town of Carroll. Through investigation it was determined that the driver, Aman, allegedly was driving in an intoxicated state. He was placed into custody, and will be in Carroll Town Court later.

WESTFIELD POLICE

– Heather L. Close, 35, of Westfield was charged with endangering the welfare of a child at 4:47 p.m. June 4 after Westfield police officers responded to the Thruway Motel for a report of an unsupervised child near Route 394. Following an investigation, it is alleged Close failed to maintain adequate supervision and positive control of her child, placing the child at risk of harm. The child was assisted by a concerned community member and was safely returned home without injury. Close will be in Westfield Town Court later.
