JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

-An 18-year-old Jamestown man was charged May 5 with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, and resisting arrest. According to police, at 5:52 p.m., officers responded to a domestic dispute in progress at a southside address. After investigation, it was discovered the male suspect engaged in a physical altercation with the victim. During the altercation, the male allegedly placed his hand around the victim’s throat in an attempt to choke the victim. After he was advised by officers that he was being placed under arrest, he attempted to run away. After a brief pursuit, the male was placed into custody, and taken to UPMC, where he was evaluated for injuries sustained during the pursuit. He was discharged from UPMC, and taken to Jamestown City Jail, and will be in Jamestown City Court later.

– Brandon Gilliam, 20, Jamestown, was charged May 6 with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. According to police, at about 12:23 p.m., officers observed a male riding a black e-bike that had previously been reported as stolen. Officers, police said, stopped Gilliam on the e-bike on the Arterial at South Main Street. He was taken to the city jail, and later released. Gilliam will be in city court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

– DUNKIRK – Shaunn L. Boyd, 46, of Dunkirk, was charged April 30 with issuing a bad check, and petit larceny. According to officials, at about 9 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a business on Vineyard Drive in the town of Dunkirk for a fraud complaint. Through an investigation it was determined that Boyd allegedly had issued a bad check. He will be in Dunkirk Town Court later.

– HANOVER – Sarah K. Cherry, 23, of Farnham, N.Y., was charged with third-degree assault, third-degree attempted assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child at 10:29 p.m. Thursday after deputies responded to a Hanover home for a reported fight. Cherry was found by the New York State Police and turned over to deputies, who then took Cherry to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
