JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Amanda D. Ferguson, 42, of Jamestown was charged Feb. 2 with petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to police, at about 11:24 p.m., officers responded to a shoplifting in progress at CVS, located at 19 S. Main St. It was determined that Ferguson allegedly had stolen merchandise belonging to the store. Officers located Ferguson a short distance from the store and were able to retrieve the items. One of the items, police said, had been damaged and was not available for resale. Ferguson was placed into custody, and taken to Jamestown City Jail. She will be in Jamestown City Court later.
– Raymond A. Gates Jr., 40, of Jamestown was charged Feb. 3 with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, first-degree criminal contempt, and aggravated criminal contempt. According to police, at about 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a welfare check at a Northside address. Upon arrival, officers determined Gates was inside the residence allegedly in violation of an active order of protection requiring him to stay away from a female victim. Officers further confirmed that Gates had an active felony warrant issued by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department for alleged aggravated criminal contempt. Officers, police said, made multiple requests that Gates exit the apartment. After several minutes, Gates complied, and surrendered without incident. He was placed into custody, and taken to Jamestown City Jail. He will be in Jamestown City Court later.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
– Kristina L. Beaujean, 43, of Dunkirk, was charged Feb. 4 with fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, fourth-degree welfare fraud, and misuse of food stamps. According to officials, at about 12:20 p.m. investigators arrested Beaujean. Officials said the arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene and Social Services Program Integrity Unit and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office. It is alleged that from January 2022 through August of 2023 Beaujean received over $14,000 in SNAP benefits that she was not entitled too. Beaujean will be in Dunkirk City Court later.
