LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT
– Ann F. Hannold, 47, of Jamestown, and Tammy E. Hagga, 42, of Jamestown were both charged Jan. 30 with petit larceny. According to police, at about 10:30 p.m., allegedly stole merchandise from Walmart, 350 E. Fairmount Ave.. They were placed into custody and will be in Busti Town Court later.
– Walter L. Whitfield, 49, of Lakewood, was charged Jan. 30 with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, consumption of marijuana in a vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and an unattended motor vehicle. According to police, at about 8 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on East Third Street for a violation of the New York State Vehicle Traffic Laws. Officers, police said, made contact with Whitfield, and it was discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license. Upon further investigation, Whitfield was found to be in alleged possession of a controlled substance. Whitfield was placed into custody, and will be in town court later.
– Homer C. Whitton, 67, of Ashville, was charged Jan. 31 with second-degree reckless endangerment. According to police, at about 6:46 p.m., officers responded to Walmart, 350 E. Fairmount Ave., for a report of candles in an unattended area in close proximity to high flammable/explosive materials. Upon further investigation, it was observed by responding officers that there were candles burning in a cardboard box in the center console of the vehicle. Police said the alleged recklessness created a risk to patrons. Officers were able to locate Whitton, and he will be in town court later.
– Cheline M. Occhipinti, 42, was charged Jan. 31 with four counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. According to police, at about 3 p.m., officers executed an arrest warrant to apprehend Occipinti. The arrest stems from an incident that took place on Jan. 18, at Walmart, 350 E. Fairmount Ave., where Occhipinti was found to be in alleged possession of four stolen credit cards. She will be in town court later.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
– Zane Tucker, 30, of Clymer, was charged Jan. 30 with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and having an unregistered motor vehicle. According to officials, at about 11:16 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Brownell Road in the town of French Creek. The operator was identified as Tucker, and upon further investigation it was found that Tucker allegedly was driving while intoxicated. He will be in French Creek Town Court later.
– Cherilynn Schlemmer, 60, of Brocton, was charged Jan. 30 with first-degree attempted assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. According to officials, about 6:09 p.m., deputies responded to a Brocton residence for a well-being check after someone received text messages from Schlemmer that were concerning in nature. After investigation, it was discovered that Schlemmer allegedly did intentionally drive her vehicle in the direction of another person with the intent to cause serious physical injury. Schlemmer was placed into custody, and taken to Chautauqua County Jail. She will be in Portland Town Court later.
