CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

— HARMONY — Around 12:13 p.m. Friday, the Panama Fire Department and several mutual aid departments responded to 1161 Hoag Road for a residential structure. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct a cause and origin fire investigation. Investigation found that the fire started along an exterior garage wall due to discarded ash from a wood stove. The fire was ruled as accidental in nature.

— BROCTON — A Brocton woman is facing charges after a well being check Friday.

Deputies responded to a village address after someone received text messages from Cherilynn Schlemmer, 60, that were concerning in nature.

After investigation into the matter, it was discovered that Schlemmer did intentionally drive her vehicle in the direction of another person with the intent to cause serious physical injury. Schlemmer was charged with first-degree attempted assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

— FRENCH CREEK — At around 11:16 p.m. Friday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Brownell Road t. The operator was identified as Zane L. Tucker, 30, of Clymer. Further investigation found Tucker to be driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, having an unregistered motor vehicle and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He will be in town court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE

DEPARTMENT

— Danny Keith, 62, of Jamestown, was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

At approximately 11:14 a.m. Friday, conducted a traffic stop on Prather Avenue. Officers were aware that Keith, was operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license. During the course of the traffic stop, officers located approximately 8.2 grams of fentanyl, along with items commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment.

— Emma E. Dodge, 19, of Olean was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with 0.08 of 1% or more alcohol in blood, following too closely and open container.

At approximately 8:12 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a report of a female passed out behind the wheel in the area of Harrison Street and South Main Street. While en route, officers observed a vehicle matching the reported description following another vehicle too closely. The vehicle was subsequently reported traveling at a high rate of speed on Willard Street, where officers were able to make contact. The operator was identified Dodge.

Officers observed an open container of alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. Further investigation determined that Dodge was operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol content approximately twice the legal limit. She was being held pending arraignment.

— Brittany A. Smith, 32, of Jamestown was charged with third-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt and resisting arrest.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to an East Side address for a reported domestic incident. Further investigation revealed that the suspect, Smith, had assaulted the victim causing physical injury. It was also revealed that there was a current order of protection against Smith protecting

the victim. After officers advised Smith she was under arrest she began to

physically resist but was taken into custody. She was transported to

Jamestown City Jail where she was held pending arraignment.

— Jessica D. Diaz Hernandez, 46, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest.

At 2:03 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a Northside residence for a reported Order of Protection violation. It was reported that Diaz Hernandez had gone into the protected parties apartment, knowing there was a valid Stay Away Order of Protection. Officers made contact with the victim and found Diaz Hernandez attempting to hide in the corner of the room. Diaz Hernandez was advised she was under arrest and when officers attempted to place her arms behind her back, she began to resist.

Officers were able to place Diaz Hernandez into custody without further issues. She was transported to the Jamestown City Jail where she was held and later arraigned.
