JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

— Robert F. McLoud, 29, of Jamestown, was charged Thursday with resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and having an outstanding Jamestown City Court warrant.

According to police, at about 1:45 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Forest Avenue, and Washington Street when they observed McLoud, who had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in city court. When officers attempted to place McLoud into custody, he allegedly ignored verbal commands, and resisted arrest. After a brief physical struggle, police said, McLoud was placed into custody. A subsequent search revealed McLoud to be in alleged possession of a small quantity of fentanyl. McLoud was taken to the Jamestown City Jail, and will be in city court later.

— Eduardo L. Rivera, 26, of Jamestown, was charged Tuesday with petit larceny. According to police, at about 10:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to a downtown business for a reported shoplifting incident. Store personnel told police that a male had placed multiple items into a cart and exited the store without paying. Officers located Rivera a short distance from the scene, and police said Rivera was found to still be in alleged possession of the stolen merchandise. Police said a store employee positively identified Rivera as the suspect. He was placed into custody, and taken to the city jail. He will be in city court later.

— Xovier Nieves, 41, of Jamestown was charged Thursday with first-degree criminal contempt. According to police, officers responded to an Eastside residence for a verbal dispute. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female victim, and after further investigation, it was found that Nieves fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. Nieves was located a short distance from the residence, and placed into custody for allegedly pushing the victim which violated the valid order of protection. Nieves was taken to the city jail, and will be in city court later.
