JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Gregory M. Messere Jr., 30, of Celoron was charged Jan. 4 with fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, failure to comply, and being an unlicensed operator. According to police, at about 1 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unwanted person on the west side of Jamestown. As officers arrived on scene, Messere fled the area in a truck, and led officers on a vehicle pursuit. Police said Messere allegedly failed to stop as he traveled through the west side of the city into the

Village of Celoron, then back into the city on Jones and Gifford Avenue. He continued onto Lister Street before traveling westbound toward Celoron again, where he ultimately abandoned the vehicle behind a village-owned property in Celoron. During the pursuit, police said, Messere drove directly toward a marked JPD vehicle at a high rate of speed, nearly causing a head-on collision. He also nearly lost control of the vehicle while navigating an intersection at a high rate of speed, creating a substantial risk of serious physical injury to officers and

the public. Messere fled the vehicle on foot but was later taken into custody without incident following a coordinated response involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the New York State Police, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team, Lakewood-Busti Police Department, and the Ellicott Police Department. Messere will be in Jamestown City Court later.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

– Edward P. Clark, 37 of Lake View, was charged Jan. 5 with false impersonation, and second degree obstructing governmental administration. According to officials, at approximately 6:41 a.m. deputies responded to an unwanted male at a residence on Central Avenue in the Village of Silver Creek. Deputies later made contact with Clark on Barone Drive in the Village of Silver Creek. While deputies spoke with the male, the male allegedly failed to provide identification and also provided a false name. Clark was later released and issued appearance tickets, and will be in Hanover Town Court later.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE DEPARTMENT

– Joshua C. Burger, 40, was charged Jan. 1 with criminal impersonation, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to signal, and being an unlicensed operator. According to police, at about 9 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop after Burger was observed making a turn without signaling. During the course of the traffic stop, police said, Burger attempted to deceive officers, and allegedly falsely identified himself as another. Upon further investigation, officers discovered Burger’s true identity in addition that Burger’s license was revoked. Burger was placed into custody, and taken to LBPD station, and then transferred into custody of the Jamestown Police Department for multiple active arrest warrants. Burger will be in Busti Town Court later.
